Xiaomi Mijia Quartz Watch launched in China for around Rs 3,500

Xiaomi’s Mijia platform is getting a new product. The Mijia Quartz Watch is basically a hybrid meant for those who want a classic looking watch with limited smart features. The hybrid watch has been launched in China with a price tag RMB 349 (approximately Rs 3,500).
The Mijia Quartz Watch’s talking point is no doubt its classic looks. It doesn’t look like any smartwatch out there, and can be easily mistaken for a traditional watch. The 40mm watch has two dials to show the time, and a smaller underneath that indicates the number of steps taken. As you can see in the above image, buyers will be able to choose between white, gray, and black colors.
But underneath those classic looks are some smart features as well. A pedometer calculates the number of steps you have taken while wearing the watch. It supports world time, and can adjust the time automatically. The watch will also give you call and alarm notifications, as well as inactive alerts.
A lack of a display however means, you will have to see the fitness data on the smartphone app. Speaking of which, the watch will connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0. The watch is also capable enough to survive the outdoors, and is waterproof up to 30 meters. It also uses a CR2430 battery, which means you won’t have to charge it everyday like other smartwatches.
With a price tag of around Rs 3,500, the Mijia Quartz Watch will undoubtedly tempt a lot of buyers. Like most Xiaomi ecosystem products though, it is unlikely to come to India, which is really a shame. For those in China, the hybrid watch will be going on sale from July 17 via Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin, and Tmall Xiaomi Flagship Store.
